Our Story
The Two Sisters story dates back to 2002 when sisters Karen Loehr and Susan Rose founded Two Sisters Creative, thus fulfilling a life-long dream to work together. The combination of Karen’s graphic design skills with Susan’s communications and marketing experience were a terrific combination. We chose to focus on helping clients development marketing materials—the middle of the story.
Of course, you can’t tell a story without know the beginning and the end, so we often found ourselves helping our clients with that as well. Or, if they didn’t want to take the time to develop the beginning and end, we’d help them develop ineffective marketing materials. We found that very frustrating and, frankly, a waste of their valuable resources.
In good economic times, it’s easier to get away with reactive marketing. Not so when times are tough. Now, more than ever, we believe it is imperative to take the time to frame your messages so that they are focused and targeted at the right audience using the right media.
Which brings us to today and Two Sisters. We are more than a creative services agency. We’ve compiled a team of seasoned marketing, communications, and public relations experts. Karen Loehr, Creative Director
Karen has 22 years of experience designing and producing complex publications. Karen’s expertise is executing projects from concept to design, such as annual reports, proposals, and trade show materials. A keen understanding of the marketing and communications process is the key to her success. She has won numerous design awards for Two Sisters Creative and as a Senior Designer at Computer Sciences Corporation, including the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) 50, Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington, and the District Two Addy. Her work appears in the books Creativity 30 and Creativity 29, for which her work received a gold medal. Karen has a BFA from the Corcoran School of Art. She currently holds a Secret Security Clearance.
Susan Rose, Writer
Susan Rose is a marketing and communications strategist with more than 20 years experience. Susan’s career began as an editor for high-tech, electronics publications. Her ability to explain complex technical information to audiences with no prior subject-matter knowledge earned her several commendations for news editing. Upon graduating with an M.A. in Public Policy from Tufts, she became a communications consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, leading communications campaigns for federal environmental programs. In this role, she developed communications strategies and campaigns for a variety of issues and agencies. As the President of Two Sisters, she develops marketing strategies that deliver results for her clients. She has a B.S in Journalism from Kansas University and an M.A in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University. Her work has won several awards for writing. She currently holds a Secret Security Clearance.
